A driver turnover cost calculator adds the hiring cost, the days a new courier spends learning the round, and the admin time you type. There is no single UK figure for replacing a driver. The CIPD 2024 report put the median cost of recruiting other employees at £1,500, and that is hiring only.
The same model is used on the driver recognition ROI calculator. Cost per leaver equals hiring cost, plus days to learn the round times the day rate, plus admin hours times the hourly rate. Annual cost equals leavers times that figure. Leavers equal drivers times the turnover rate you type. Assumptions were checked on 25 September 2026. The only published hiring figure used here
The CIPD Resource and talent planning report 2024 gives a median cost of £1,500 to recruit other employees (the column next to senior managers and directors). The cost includes in-house resourcing time, advertising and agency or search fees, from employers who could estimate within plus or minus 20 percent. It is not a courier rate, and it excludes training and lost rounds. Type your own hiring cost above.

What is the UK cost of replacing a courier driver?

What turnover rate should I type?
The rate on your rota over the last 12 months: leavers divided by average headcount. Type that rate. Zerity does not supply a default.
Does Zerity cut turnover by a set percent?
No. A calculator cannot promise that. Recognition and pay are depot decisions. Type a lower leaver count on the recognition calculator only if you want to compare one.
What should I count in the cost?
Advertising, time in interviews, days until the driver hits the same drops per hour, and the person covering the round. Leave out fines unless you know the figure.
