Driver recognition ROI calculator

Driver recognition ROI calculator

A driver recognition ROI calculator compares the cost of leavers you have now with a lower leaver count that you type. Recognition means a recorded thank-you or reward on a schedule the depot sets. It is not a pay rise. Type any cut yourself.

Cost per leaver is the same model as the driver turnover cost calculator: hiring, plus days to learn the round times the day rate, plus admin hours times the hourly rate. Work that sum there, then type the result here. This page shows the cost of the leavers you have now. A second column appears only if you type a lower leaver count. Assumptions were checked on 25 September 2026. No Zerity benchmark is applied.

The formula

  • Cost now = leavers this year x cost per leaver
  • Compared cost = the leaver count you type x the same cost per leaver
  • Difference = cost now minus compared cost
  • After the budget you type = difference minus reward budget minus software cost

If the leaver count you type is higher than today's count, the difference is a higher cost, not a saving. The driver recognition product records the thank-you. It does not set the leaver count.

If leavers are the number you typed

This is not a forecast. It is the same cost per leaver applied to the count you entered.

The leaver count you typed is higher than today's count, so the cost is higher, not lower.

Read the courier driver retention guide for what a depot can change. For tax status, read HMRC's off-payroll working guidance and the IR35 note. This calculator is not that advice.

Questions

Will recognition cut turnover by a fixed percent?

No. Type the leaver count you think is realistic. You choose that count, and you apply any reduction yourself.

What is the cost per leaver?

Use the driver turnover cost calculator. Do not use a national average from another Zerity page. Hiring, days to learn the round and admin time are the parts.

Is a reward scheme IR35 advice?

No. IR35 status is a tax question for your adviser. HMRC publishes the off-payroll working rules. A recorded thank-you is not a status decision.

What does recognition mean on this page?

A recorded thank-you or reward on a schedule the depot sets. It is not a pay rise and it is not a retention guarantee.
