Driver compliance training

Driver compliance training for UK fleet leads

Driver compliance training on this page is a reading list for UK fleet leads, not a certified course. Zerity does not issue a qualification from here. Each topic explains a duty. The software then stores the file after someone has done the check.

No taught module is running

There is no classroom date, no certificate and no enrolment. A module will be listed here only when it has an owner, a duration and a syllabus. Until then, use the written guidance below. The compliance library holds the DVLA, DVSA and HMRC reference pages. Durable guides and calculators are indexed on the Zerity learning centre.

Topics a fleet lead should read

Topic The duty Where to read it What Zerity stores
Right to work If the person is your employee, follow the Home Office check before they start. If they are self-employed, read the Home Office employer guide and the carrier contract before you treat the check as optional. Home Office right to work checks: employer's guide and right-to-work checks for self-employed couriers. Zerity stores the right to work record, the date it was checked and the expiry.
Licence check code Ask the driver for a DVLA check code and view the licence, the categories and the endorsements on GOV.UK. File what you saw and when it expires. View or share your driving licence information on GOV.UK, and what to record on a driver licence check. Zerity stores the licence record, the date it was checked and the expiry. Track every expiry date in one place.
Van walkaround DVSA expects a walkaround check before the van is used. Record defects, including a nil defect when you find none. Carry out van daily walkaround checks (DVSA, GOV.UK) and vehicle inspections. The inspection record the driver submits. The check itself is still done at the van.
Self-billing records HMRC's VAT self-billing guidance explains when the customer raises the supplier's invoice, and that the arrangement needs a self-billing agreement. VAT: self-billing arrangements (HMRC, GOV.UK) and self-billing in Zerity. The agreement, the rate and the pay run. It does not replace the HMRC conditions.
